In response to the call of the Supreme People's Procuratorate (SPP) and the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF), the People's Procuratorate of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region (in South China) and the Women's Federation of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, in March 2022, promulgated a document, in which they outlined the opinions on promoting work related to providing judicial assistance to women and children in need.
In March 2022, the SPP and the ACWF initiated a campaign to urge prosecutorial organs and women's federations, at all levels across the country, to increase efforts to provide legal assistance to women in need.
During the past year, prosecutorial organs and women's federations, at all levels across Guangxi, have worked together to promote the campaign. So far, the organs have provided legal assistance to more than 4,700 women or children (in the region), and have offered, combined, more than 56 million yuan (US $8 million) in financial assistance to women and children facing difficulties. By the end of June 2023, the federations had provided information to prosecutorial organs (in Guangxi), to help solve a combined 263 cases involving 123 women and 153 children facing difficulties.
The federations during the past year have also worked with other organizations to provide various services, including legal aid and psychological counseling, to women and children (in need), after they received legal assistance provided by the prosecutorial organs.
